A Message from Julia Grenn

Hello USAS Members,

My name is Julia Grenn, and I am the new Student Liaison to the USAS Board. We are looking for a new Student Liaison Apprentice to the board who will take over the Student Liaison position once my term is over. If you are a student member who is interested in this opportunity, please see below for more information. If you are a member who has or knows students that might be interested in this position, please forward this email to them.

Student Liaison Apprentice – As defined in USAS bylaws: “The Student Liaison is a member of the Student Activities Committee and is appointed by the USAS Executive Board upon recommendation of the Student Activities Committee. The Student Liaison serves as the student representative on the Executive Board of the USAS. The Student Liaison is a non-voting member of the Executive Board of the USAS. The term of office of the Student Liaison is two years; however, the same person can be re-elected to serve as long as the individual is a student or no more than twelve (12) months after graduation.”

Commitment? The next Student Liaison Apprentice will work with the Student Liaison (Julia Grenn) for 2 years and then become the Student Liaison for at least 1 year (3-year minimum time commitment). During the first 2 years, you will work with me to learn how to hold this position. Student Liaison and Apprentice are compensated with free registration for attending the annual conference and an annual stipend ($300 for apprentice and $1,000 for liaison). The Student Liaison attends all board meetings (approximately 4 remotely and 1 in-person annually). The Apprentice is also welcome to attend.

If you are interested in this position, please email your completed application to jmgrenn@vims.edu (do not reply directly to this email) by the end of the day Friday, April 18th, 2024. If you have any questions or want more information about this opportunity, please feel free to email me any time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

Julia Grenn
